Mementos From Your Photographs

An art piece by The Memento Maker designates a photograph as something revered.

About Mementos

Mementos are images turned art that you can touch and feel.

In the digital age, few photographs ever become objects adorning our homes and workspaces. Working in both encaustic photography and fine art print photography I take images out of the camera and into the material world.

You can have your own photographs, or photographs from a Memento Maker photo session, turned into a one-of-a-kind photo block.

Reproductions of children’s artwork also makes wonderful Memento keepsakes.

About the Process and How To Order

Step 1:

Choose your own original digit image file to send. Images must be copyright free or you must hold the copyright. Or the image can be from a Memento Maker photo session.

Printing rights are not copyrights.* File formats accepted are jpg, png, and tiff.

Step 2:

Using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, I prepare the digital file for printing. Next, an archival print is made in my studio on a professional Epson Ultrachrome printer. The print is mounted to a birch panel using an archival adhesive.

Step: 3

Layers of wax are applied to create a unique and durable surface. Occasionally, oil paints and/or ink is applied to the surface as well. In approximately 4 weeks the piece is finished and ready to deliver.

Step 4:

The last step is to finish the piece off with a label adhered to the back. This label is customized with text of your choosing. This particular piece was made into an ornament. It can be hung anywhere, especially on a Christmas tree.

Authenticity

Each Memento comes packaged in a storage box and with a certificate of authenticity, signed and dated by me.

I ordered a reproduction of my son’s artwork to be turned into a fine art photo block. We now have an archival piece that will be treasured. I am more than pleased with my custom order.
